Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.5.4 and 6.0.5 MR fix list
(available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus/):
LMBCS
SPR# MROE678LUW - Users whose names contained characters from the 'extended'
character set (eg, ÄÅÉÆÖÜÑüéâäàëèìç) were not handled successfully when
selected from the 'Access to Your Mail & Calendar' and 'Access to Others Mail'
preferences. Errors occurred and the managed mailfile never replicated to the
delegate's Outlook client. The fix was to convert names from the Native
character set to LMBCS when storing them into the Domino mailfile, and to
convert the names from LMBCS to the Native character set when extracting them
from the mailfile and displaying them on the Outlook client. More >
